No Admittance
Are movie critics necessary? About 33 percent of movies to be released nationwide in August and the first week of September have not been screened in advance for critics. Some were obvious dogs that flopped immediately (""Pulse,'' ""Zoom''). Others, like ""Snakes on a Plane,'' defied nervous distributors who banned review screenings, by charming critics who saw the movie on opening day. Do you read reviews? Do you care what reviewers think? Do reviews help you pick which movies to see? We want to know.

I still read movie criticism, but I no longer rely on critics to determine if I will see a movie or not ... I kind of liked that "SoaP" took a confrontational pose to critics by declaring so early that it wouldn't be screened in advance .. but no movie should fear critics .. heck, even Beerfest as been getting some good notices!
I don't rely on your reviews because you seem to not like most movies you see. I can often tell on my own if a film would be to my likeing or not with out relying on any reviews.
I find your reviews most useful: If you like a film, I almost always hate it. If you give a lukewarm review, I usually like the flick. But if you think a film stinks, I usually agree. Once I understood that calibration, I began employing your reviews in a very productive manner.
Are movie critics necessary? of course not .But what is ? With out critics ,it would be like going to the cinema without popcorn or to a base ball game and not have a hot dog. Thats what keep life interesting the unnecessary stuff.
